Nero and buffer underun

i checked the posts and i didn't see anything about this so...

i have Nero 5.582... my problem is when i burn a full 650MB cd the buffer keeps getting low and then go back to 97% and then drop to like 14 and back ... nero users will know what i'm talkin about. now the strange thing is the cpu usage is at 80%! the computer is running exremely slow while burning something.

i uninstalled and reinstalled the program. i've defragmented the drive many times. I'v installed the via IDE bus master drivers. and whatever else i could find and still nothing.

oh ya .. i'm burning from hard drive to cd. It's not a cd to cd copy but hard drive to cd. My hard drive is in RAID 0 so i know it is fast enough. I don't get why i'm getting buffer underrun errors. it actually says buffer underrun prevented 83 times as one time it occured.

Anyone got a clue?

Thanks!

I think you definitely know about DMA yourself; But in this case I'd check the DMA option for all of my optical drives just in case. It may be disabled in BIOS or in the OS. I don't know if RAID 0 hard disks also have the DMA option or not though...

dam ... the cd-writer was on PIO mode so i switched it to DMA. Hopeing that would be it but it still does it. i'm gonna run sandra afetr this and see if the scores are low. Maybe something happenend to the layout of the file table or the stripe itself.

alright thanks a lot!
