Case's and P4's

Last response: in Components

I have a IWin server case which i believe has a 350 watt power supply and is atx compliant. What seperates a case from being P4 compliant? is it just the higher watt power supply? Because i believe all P4's are atx compliant if im not mistaken. Basically im trying to get my case ready for a p4 upgrade and wondering if i need to buy a new case or not.

More about : case

No idea why they call cases P4 compliant unless they come with a power supply which got the extra P4 plugs. So far I see no differences between cases other than price, quality, look and size.

Initially P4's had to have a support bracket that had to be screwed into the case itself (through the motherboard), that is why cases became labelled Pentium 4 compliant.

Cases now no longer need that.

P4 power supplies conform to the ATX12V spec (which does differ from the ATX2.01 and is a refinement of the ATX2.03 specifications). There are typically 2 extra connectors (Aux Power) and 12V.
