Internet/Wireless gaming Help

I got a Alien x51, and I want to connect it to internet, my main computer has internet. And I dont know what router I should get for gaming. Could you help help me, is there another way of getting internet without a doing it wirelessly because I hard this can cause lots of lag. I have Optus Cable if you want to know.

any premium Dlink or netgear will work. If you like to tinker you will want to find a model compatible with DD-WRT
