A friend of mine is restoring my Fisher 1800 Receiver. It's the same as a
800 model. He needs a part for it. Here's what he said to ask for;
"ask for RL1, a small relay used to switch
from mono to stereo & control the "Stereo Beacon" light. It has a super
sensitive coil that is energized by a tube that has a maximum current of
7 milliamps! (6GK5)
The relay is single pole dual throw. Yours is a Fisher 1800, but I think
it's the same receiver as an 800C, and maybe even a 500C.
If somebody has a substitute figured out, or a substitute circuit, that
may be the way to go. Otherwise I'll try to design one."
If any of you folks can help, please let me know. He's tried The Fisher Doc,
but they are not relying for some reason.
You could probably design a solid state relay or at least use a fet to
trigger a less sensitive relay. Evidently the Fisher Doctor has become
a real dud supplier. The shame of it is I must have thrown away two
dozen of these things, along with most of the rest of the set, when
we'd strip them for the transformers. Who knew people would pay
hundreds for these things??
