How manys watts do i need for a computer? Is a 300W PSU good enough? here is what i am getting:

Mobo: Asus P4S533 (SIS645sx 533MHz)
CPU: Intel 1.8GHz
Fan/Heatsink: Volcano 7+ 70mm fan
RAM: PC2700(333HMz) 512M DDR Samsung
Video CardL ABIT Geforce4 Ti4400
Case: Antec SX1030 300W
DVD: Pioneer 16x DVD
Sound Card: SB Live! Audigy X-Gamer
HD: IBM Deskstar 80gb 7200RPM
Floppy: Panasonic 1.44

I just dont want to get a case and find that I need a new psu.

300W or 400W should be enough. I think the only reason why you might want to go higher would be in case you want to upgrade later to RAID, firewire, CD burner, etc. or if you wanted to re-use the power supply for a future computer upgrade, which will undoubtedly require a little bit more power than today's computers. Personally I think 450W and 550W are overkill. The truth is computers aren't going to keep using up more and more power indefinitely. A lot of new chip designs are optimizing the chip sizes and heat dissipation, which will result in newer chips requiring less power. The new PCI buses in the future will require less power, for instance.

Even the new chip designs are optimizing the chip sizes and heat dissipation but most chip use more and more power because number of transistors in the chip are also increasing. CPU and GPU are using more power even the process of manufacturing the chips have been improve a lot.

Given that you don't plan to add any heavy duty components to that list, a 300W supply should be sufficient.
