My husband's laptop wireless button that you have it go to wireless is not working. He has to go into another room from his office and connect directly to the router which is such a pain. Isn't there something he can buy to plug into his laptop that would allow it to connect to the wireless router wirelessly?? Please help.

First you need to find out if that button is actually broken. The only buttons that should be on a laptop for wifi is to turn on and off the hardware. Just because the hardware is on does not mean it will connect. You need to go into the wifi setting in Windows and check that your network is showing up and try to connect to it that way.
Just like you can start a car with the key but just because it's not moving then does not mean it's broken. You need to put it in gear and step on the gas to make it move after you start it. That wifi button turns on/off the wifi card but to connect you need to do something else.
