Here's the deal. My stepdaughter's mini stereo has succumbed to being
turned on too often, The power on-off switch has separated from the
main front panel of the amplifier portion of this unit. Since the
actuator is cast into the front panel (not the dress panel which covers
it), replacement looks like it wil reuire replacement of the entire
main front panel. No casting marks or part numbers are visible so far,
but I've only partially lobotomized it.

Does anyone know if this part is available?

I'll also try calling a Panasonic/Technics repair center to see what's
happening there.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

If you call any parts supplier for Panasonic service parts, they should have
the answer. For most models, you can buy the switches, and most of the
discrete components for service replacement. If the set is more than about 5
to 7 years old, then the part may no longer be available. I found Panasonic
to be very good in comparison to many of the other makes that are out there.

If the switch has a simple on-off function, it shouldn't be too hard
to remove the broken one and replace with something that fits in the
hole. You're not a commercial repair shop with an obligation to fit
only original parts. I'm sure you can make it safe.

Or just bypass the broken switch, turn off by pulling the plug, or
some more elegant way of providing the same simple function.
