I was recently given a 'media card' from a friend, and we are both unable to figure out what it is! I'm not sure if it's a TV card or what. It has a Conexant Fusion 878a chip, 2 AV inputs and one SVHS socket.
I tried using dscaler and that had an overlay error, and I tried to use MyTV and that managed to pick up AV but only in black and white! All I wanna do is play my PS2 through one of my monitors, and do normal stuff on the other :P
Any help as to what it might be?

what are the settings of your MyTV software?
what is the type of video out cable of your ps2 console?
when you speak about "svhs socket" i think it is in fact a svhs connector?
what os have you?
what is "dscaler"?

MyTV I just started up and put it in AV and the only setting that works is NTSC ... cant remember which one ...
Im using the standard AV cables that come with the PS2 (its a PAL PS2 btw)
It just says SVHS ... i dont know what that is :) hehe
Im using Windows 2000
Dscalar is a program that has built in support for Conexant BT8*8 chipsets, which it detects, but then fails ...
If I could just find out what type of card it is maybe I could fine some proper drivers ...

you are funny. you have a B&W screen issue and you are wondering why this was occurred. you have plugged a PAL signal into a NTSC one. this B&W issue is usual thus. both signals must be identical.

do you know at least its brand?
if you don't know it then have a look of the model and brand of the chipsets inside your tv card. this could help you to find the tv card brand.

haha now im looking stupid :P
i tried using pal but the picture was all jumbled and crap, the only setting it would work on is NTSC ... it has PAL N, PAL M, NTSC, NTSC J and SECAM
and NTSC is the only one it would work on :(
The card has NO brand or anything, the conexant is the only thing that i can see ... i kinda hoped someone could tell me what it was roughly from the chipset and, AV ports and SVHS :P

you have an original vocabulary. now what is a "conexant"?
maybe a connector, a brand, a connection, a chipset, a chip, a PCB, a jumbled crap mark, ...?!?

Chipset then :P

did you try a research on Internet for this chipset?

yes i looked up the chipset, i tried generic drivers for it, i tried several programs, i looked at several manufacturers sites, i tried www.tv-cards.com and had no luck there
and unless you can tell me WHAT the card is, or at least point me somewhere I can get the help I need I suggest you just give up, because your asking more questions than I am!

Geez. well, sorry. i would like only to help. no matter.

note: it is your problem, not mine. :)

go to driverguide.com and do an FCC search on the FCC ID which all cards must have by law. Then you'll know the company that made it!

At least half of all problems are caused by an insufficient power supply!
