XP wifi connects but no internet

Hello,
I have an old XP laptop which is now used for my wife on her embroidery machine and have tried to integrate it into the home wifi. The other three PC's/laptops all have win7. Is the XP not compatible? It sees and connects to the wifi with full strength, but I cannot access internet at all.
Anyone have the right answers for please.

Do an "ipconfig /all" command at a dos prompt, are you getting the same IP address range as the other computers. XP or not does not matter with the router.

Also check I.E. options, you may have it setup for some other connection type (dial-up or something) and/or may have a proxy listed when you don't need to.
