I have reformatted the drive of my PC to get rid of XP (really bad) to install Linux and WIN98 (Second edition). While the Redhat Linux software recognizes directly the integrated sound system of my motherboard, WIN98 locks up looking for the drivers of the soundcard. I have a SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. Does anybody know if win98 supports this stuff? I don't have a CD for my motherboard either...
thank you
Giovanni
Why not temporarily disable the integrated Audio in the BIOS, just long enough to install both operating systems? Later, you can locate the correct drivers, (such as from here, if you have a Compaq) re-enable the Audio, and install the drivers when Windows reaches the desktop.
win98 does support integrated audio, i'm using an integrated SB sound in my system right now, have had no problems, but the drivers were included on my Mobo CD. As to how to fix it..listen to ToeJam, he's a genius
windows doesnt know if its integrated or not, as long as you have the drivers for it, as mentioned, disable it, install windows (or disable and remove all traces from windows in safemode) and reinstall, I've never had probs with onboard (not that I like it)
If they squeeze olives to get olive oil, how do they get baby oil?
