I installed the drivers off creatives web site. Nothing comes out of the speakers with low volumes but at high volumes it cracks and pops and you can barely hear music.

What would be causing this? Before I had sound with my motherboard and it sounded OK.

I have Klipsch 5.1 Promedia speakers if that helps.

Go to start-programs-accessories-multimedia or entertainment - volume control for win xp

or if your in another version of windows double click the speaker icon on the right side of your taskbar by the clock.

unmute any inputs that are muted and raise the volume levels on all of them to about 3/4 of the way up.
BE SURE to turn down the volume on your speakers first. Also do this with the Speaker controll utility thats installed with your creative drivers, set it to 3/4 volume. Most likely one of those is just inadvertantly really low and causing almost no sound to come out.

BE SURE to turn your speakers down first! Don't want you blowing out your eardrums or blowing up your brand new speakers.

In Windows the speaker volumes are all the way up. When I don't play anything the speakers hiss at only 30 for the volume.

Is there something wrong with the Audigy?

The speakers didn't hiss with the onboard sound.

That's a VIA chipset right? I've heard of cracking and popping issues with the Live! on a VIA chipset, it could also hold true for the Audigy. Get the latest 4-in-1s and try tweaking PCI-related settings in your BIOS.

If that doesn't work, maybe you can return the card and perhaps get a GTXP or something.

I updated the VIA drivers.

I will just get the VOYETRA TURTLE BEACH SANTA CRUZ card. I should have just got this card in the beginning.

Will newegg take this piece of junk back?

They'll take it back and charge a 15% restocking fee, most likely.

And there was much singing and dancing and drinking of fine wine in the streets.
