Please recommend me a Olympus digital voice recorder.

I require a voice recorder:

1. for recording lectures
(i don't need a very good sound quality, but clear enough to
understand)

2. for recording conversations (discreetly...nothing illegal;))
(i imagine i should be looking for a small digital one, with
easy-to-access, quiet buttons and external microphone)

3. with VCVA (variable control voice actuator)

4. not expensive, please recommend a good value one for me.

thank you!

Get an older Windows Mobile PDA like an HP iPAQ 3800-series. Buy Resco
Audio Recorder and an SD flash memory card. Total cost is under $200.

I have used several voice recorders over the years, mostly because the
cheap ones don't hold up. I take a lot of short messages and over time
the buttons give out. I currently own an Olympus DM-10 and would highly
recommend it. The quality is excellent, has five different channels, 4,
10 & 20 hour record modes and it's wave files can be downloaded to a
computer. It will also due 1 hour of high quality stereo audio. For
about $125.00 web price, it's a good value. There is also a DM-20 model
with twice the memory, but it's about $100.00 more. I found a site
kiesub.com, that carries a Ripoffs brand of belt clip cases for about
$15.00. I use one listed for a mini Nokia Cell phone and it works
great. If your on a budget, try overstock.com. They carry some older
Olympus models for about $50.00. From experience, get the DM-10. The
others are really just toys in comparison.
