OK. i have an asus a7v 133.
I have 1 256MB at 133MHz, 128MB at 133MHz and 128MB at 100MHz
im running amd athlon Xp 1600+

If i set my bus speed to 133 will the pc100 chip lag the rest of the ram or just try and run at a high speed?

I ask this becasue i thought half life was crashing becasue of the mixing of ram but when i took out the 2 128's cuz i don;t know which is the 133 and which is the 100, half life is still crashing (only when i run my computer at 133 FSB and not at 100 FSB) and i can;t figure out why.

thanks!

Find the PC100 stick, and get rid of it. You have more than enough PC133 to make a good system, just lose the PC100 and run on 133MHz.

The freezing problem is probably caused by your memory timings. Try to change your CAS latency setting. Also make sure the 256MB stick is in the 1.st RAM slot (closest to the CPU)!

ok. yes. all ram would run at 133. this involves your pc100 ram should give up (at 133). also this should implicate some random memory crashes.

moreover if you have a SPD bios setting for your 256MB at 133MHz, then the stick is OOO.

DanielR theres no sense asking for help if you're not going to use the advise people have already given you, set the FSB at 133 and loose the 100Mhz Ram Module, before you damage your motherboard or the other RAM modules, trying to run it all at 133. This is not your first post on this same subject,{a lil winME a lil ram a lilOCing, in the Windows 95/98/ME section}. Go to www.bootdisk.com and download and run the memory identifier program on each individual stick to find out which one is the 100 and get it out of your system, before you do irrepairable damage to the motherboards chipset.

I would not ask for info that i wouldn't use. Im just trying to get as much information as possible so i can make the best decision, I post things in many areas to perhaphs get responses from people who only read certain sections, plus, then i can ask more specific questions without the question being out of place.

...relax.. no harm done.

Now, heeh i got more questions..
all my CAS timing are 3T, could i set them lower?
and
what does "then the stick is OOO." mean 8235k8hta??

Ill check out the bootdisk.com thing 4ryan6

Thank you for your help!

There´s no harm in trying to lower the CAS, but I don´t think you´ll have much success with PC133! The most it'll do is stop booting, just be ready to clear the CMOS, to fix it back again...

no. just reset to defaults.
typically there is a jumper on the motherboard that lets you do that.
