Assigning IRQ's in 2000 Pro

Boy it's fun being a 2000/NT newbie:) So here is my quest; my system keeps freezing up. I'm running:

A7V (with 1004c bios and most recent Promise ATA100 driver)
800 Thunderbird
IBM Deskstar ATA100/7200RPM 30 Gig
SB Platinum
Asus V6600
128 Crucial CL2
Linksys 10/100
AMD Graphics Patch for 2000
Microsoft 2000 Patch for Via chipset
Via 4in1 4.24 gart

Everything (ATA100, ethernet, SB, Graphics) was using IRQ 9 so I suspected this to be the issue and am trying to manually assign IRQ.

Anyway, I've succeeded it implementing the "standard PC" mode in the ACPI profile; but when I go to: device>resources>change settings to manually assign IRQ; for some reason its not giving me the option to select, it's STILL greyed out.

Any ideas how to obtain access? I set my profile up with full admin BTW. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks!

Your "problem" is being caused by ACPI on your motherboard. IRQ 9 is the IRQ Steering interrupt. It allows you to add more devices (in theory) without generating any IRQ confilicts. Basically, you can't change the IRQ's unless you deactivate ACPI on your MoBo (and I'm ont even 100% sure of that). For more detailed info, check:

I suppose I should have read the next post in the list about IRQ9 before responding. OOPS!
