Windows help and support cant start

Several things in this thread you can try But confusing as to whether it is actually Win7 as in the link, or XP as in the responses.

Windows Help and Support is a Windows service that usually starts with the OS and runs in the background. Maybe for some reason it's disabled?

Try right clicking on your "My computer" (XP) or "Computer" (w7) icon and choosing "manage". then go to "services and applications" and find help and support on the list. you should see the status (started/stopped) and options about how it runs (automatically/manually/disabled).
