My router is not a router?

I bought a new router to replace my old one but this new one just gives me headaches, it is very annoying. Sometimes it disconnects. Right now when I look up my ip adress, it isnt 192.168.1.x instead it is my internet ip adress and other computer connected to the router are saying "no network connection". And when I type the router adress (192.168.1.1) it redirects to my modems config page.

have you tried disconnecting the router from the modem and then log in to the router.

change the LAN IP of the router to 192.168.0.1

F*ck this router. It is working for a bit then starts to disconnect again. It is really pissing me off, it's like I just want to smash it with a hammer, my old router did not give me so much problem. I'll just return it and get a replacement for it. I
