is Audigy some mess?

here is a criticism i have found from an owner:
"+/- it is a SB... which has dropped my esteem since it mustn't necessary to have a SoundBlaster for games. it has a firewire port, EAX Advanced HD (EAX 3.0) plus a good ratio price/quality but it is not sufficient.
the specs indicate 24 bits but in fact it is an internal 16 bits management. huge issues with the drivers, seldom up to date & burdensome to install. compatibility problem with many motherboards integrating the VIA chipset. to conclude, a good sound card from a hardware point of view but the rest is no way!"

what do you think about? some exp would be appreciated.

moreover which worth sound card would be a replacement integrating the EAX Advanced HD (EAX 3.0) as well?

Athlon XP 1700+,KT266A,Geforce3, Audigy.. 'nuff said.

Creative simply doesn't know sound, did you know they also own all the hardware and software specs for A3D 2.0, but don't use it?
