Following the below suggestion:
In Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to Tools | Folder Options.
On the View tab, check "Display the full path in the address
bar," and click "Apply to all folders."
My Apply to all folders is greyed out!!!!
Open Windows Explorer, Click View, Toolbars -Unlock if necessary,
then tic/check the Address Bar Toolbar option, relock Toolbars.
I do not know what the author is talking about where it is suggested tic/check the Adress Bar Toolbar option.

Any help is HIGHLY appreciated

Have you tried setting your desktop to the classic theme first?

Right click on your desktop and click on "personalize", now find the W7 classic theme on the bottom.
