what is UltraDMA/33 ??? will this work with most mobos? (in paticular an asus a7V333) any help would be really appreciated.

ATA33 is a standard for IDE devices. Your motherboard will support ATA33 no problem.

most motherboards are well beyond that now... the udma33 standard is old, we are up to 100/133 now. but dont worry. they are backwards compatible.

And you'd better enable it for all your storage devices in Windows to get much better performance from your drives. Hard disks are up to ATA/133 right now (Ultra DMA mode 6) and CD-ROM and DVD-ROMs are generally at ATA/33 (Ultra DMA mode 2) with the exception of a Pioneer DVD reader (ATA/66 Ultra DMA mode 4).
Please refer to other threads here to know how to enable it (i.e. if not already done automatically by Windows).
