Is it better to use the 2pin or 4 pin audio cords?

I'm guessing one is digital and the other is analog. I would also assume that the digital one would be better, because of course digital is always better .

If I had other connections to choose from, which would be better to use/which one is digital?

I agree with your guess, however...

Digital is not always better.

It depends on the quality of the D to A's,their implementation, and their placement etc.

Generally though, one would have to assume that if a device has digital inputs the DAC's are of acceptable quality.

I've noticed through several tests that the DAC's used on the CD and DVD drives I've tried are crap, and by using the SPDIF link the soundcard DAC's are used instead, and everything (from the player) sounds much better.

2 pin is digital spdif and is better for dvd/cd-rom to sound card connections.
