Closed Back Headphones for studio and live p.a. work?

What about the new product called "Extreme Isolation Earphones"...apparently
have 29 dB of attenuation of external sounds, seems ideal for your task ?

Something like <http://remoteaudio.com/hn7506.htm> will probably provide the best isolation but there is somewhat of a weight, heat, and cost penalty. Oh, and you have to like the Sony 7506 sound.

HD 280 Pro is what I use and I think for $80 or so it's a pretty amazing set of phones.

The HD280s are 64 Ohms and work well on everything I've connected them to. The 300 Ohm version is nonstandard and would give you trouble with most portable audio devices.
