I have 2 hdd's in my system both maxtor one is a 60gb D740X, and the other is a 20gb DiamondMax Plus60 UDMA100. My problem is they score pitifully low, PCMark 2002 gives my hdd's a scor of about 750 I believe, that blows. PcPitstop tells me my hdd's are running about half as fast as they should. WTF CAN I DO???

How did I get here???

First check that DMA is enabled for both drives.

Do you have both HD´s on the same IDE channel?
If you are sharing a HD with a CD it will cause slowdowns.

I have two separate hdd's one on my primary ide alone and one on a scsi controller alone. I have been told that an ntfs file system is slower than fat 32 but this much slower?

What are the components of your system ?
Do you refer to a clean install of Windows (9x, NT, 2K, XP ?) ?
You have one hdd on a IDE channel and an other on a ULTRA 100 controller (not SCSI), isn't it ?
What driver do you have installed ?

it could be your motherboard. if you have a crappy hdd controller or other sad component that may be slowing you down. another thing perhaps it is simple but you could try reformatting your hdd or at least defragging them.
