Last night I had a nasty thunderstorm and I'm fairly certain that either the house or an nearby junction was struck by lightning, consequently I lost power for a brief moment and witnessed a large surge of energy make its way through my computer. While my computer was protected, my router was not.
My Motorola Surfboard SBG6850 was working fine before that strike, but afterwards all the connections to my PCs throughout the house lost signal. The router itself is still working but there's no more hardwire connectivity. The wireless functions properly, and the lights on the machine are not signaling any form of distress.
I'm at a loss here on how to go about troubleshooting to figure out if my router itself is shot (outside of wireless of course). If the router is shot, then I'll toss it, but its relatively new and cost a pretty penny.
Is it possible the hardwire is busted while the rest of the router functions appropriately? How can I test this?
