Well I've put together a system AMD 1800+ MSI KT3 Ultra board and I got 2 256 pc2100 DDRRAM chips. I put one in and it boots fine. I put 2 or 3 in (I have one in my system)and it won't post for some odd reason. So I put 2 in in mine and I get the memory error beeps all 3 chips work. The 2 new chips are from the same maker so you would think if you put those 2 together they should work just fine. Is there something I'm missing? I read the manual to my board it says it needs 2-2-2 timing. I'm not too sure on all the specifics of memory (I know bad move on my part so I'm not sure what all I'm missing) but is 2-2-2 timing the same as CAS 2.0? I read the MSI manual and it says it supports pc2700, pc2100, and pc1600 so it should be supported.....well thanks for the help

I'm not familiar with memory timings, but I'm almost positive the 2-2-2 is equivalent to CAS 2.0. Did you buy both of those PC2100 DDR chips at the same time? Perhaps one of them aren't rated at 2.0.

To test your memory, check out Memtest86. It boots with a floppy. Just make sure to test one stick at a time.

2-2-2 = CAS2
2.5-3-3 = CAS2.5
