The DNS server isn't responding??

I'm using a cable to connect my laptop to the Internet. I couldn't connect to the Internet today out of nowhere, and I got this error message saying "the DNS server isn't responding".
The other computer using the same cable works fine when plugged in. Please please help me think of posisble reasons and solutions. thanks!

  1. Open a command prompt and do an ipconfig /all and see if your computer is pulling a DNS server, if it is then there is something else wrong, if not try using an alternate DNS server. Under your IPv4 configs click the "Use following DNS servers" Try something like google's DNS. They have 2 at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
