I am currently looking to replace my aged TrgPro with one of the
above, they are all about $150 from Sony or Overstock.com (does anyone
know if the $50 rebate from PalmOne is available for purchases from
Overstock?).
Because I plan to use it with a GPS (RS232), I cannot consider any of
the other Palm models.
My concerns are
1) How visible will the screen be sitting on the dashboard of my car
2) Durability/quality of construction
3) Battery life
4) How expensive for the handheld <-> GPS cable
5) MP3 capability
I am not concerned with Bluetooth, WiFi or a camera. More memory is
always nice.

Easily visible, especially in direct sunlight.
I don't know why he could not use his TE outside.
I found that, on a scale of 1-5, in non direct sunlight (like inside a
vehicle that isn't in a shaded area) the E scored a 4 or 5 and the
Sony TJ27 was a one number below whichever the E was; a subjective
score.
The sony screen is just that much dimmer than the E in all situations
except for direct sunlight shining on the unit.
In that case the backlight does nothing (and to think that thing is 93
million miles away!). As an aside, the BL on the Sony can be defeated
easily whereas the BL on the E can only be defeated with special
software.
I did not compare either of these to a IIIx in sunlight.
Good luck,
Shawn
