I don't know. I have one, and it's not too bad. Did you especially see the part:

"<font color=red>There has been much talk about IBM's recommendation of only 333 power-on hours per month, suggesting this family is unsuited to always-on server environments. However, IBM has now removed this specification from the family's datasheet and says the disks are suitable for round-the-clock operation.</font color=red>"

Does this even mean anything? Also, how did they test it? I didn't really scrutinize everything...I skimmed.

I bought two 120GXP and made a RAID 0 array.
The array is really very fast. It scores 53000 with Sandra 2002 pro, 22000 with winbench 99 2.0 business and 42000 for high end. And here are HD TACH results

HD Tach version 2.61
Drive: Promise 2+0 Stripe/RAID01.10
Access time: 12.0ms
CPU utilization: 4.5%
3681 zones to be tested (65536kb zones).

Burst speed: 94587kps
Average read speed: 48490
Read speed - maximum 74154.0kps, minimum 28540.0kps, average 48490.0kps
These results are the highest I never seen with IDE hdd.
But I am worried about the 333 hours/month issue. Consequently I asked about this issue, to IBM tech. support. They answered that the 333 hours/month indicates the typical service the disk has been addressed for, but "it can work 24 hours a day 7 days a week with no problems. The warranty does not mentions the 333 hours/month issue". I believed them and now the two disks are working with no problems since six months almost 24/7 (cooled, the correct working temperature must be observed).
We must consider that IBM has already delivered a patch to upgrade the firmware of DTLA and 60GXP series which are famous to die to soon and not because of mechanical problems.
The problem should not occurr to 120GXP which was born after the patch was realised by IBM.

hmmm

well according to <A HREF="http://www.storagereview.com" target="_new">http://www.storagereview.com</A> the westerndigital with 8mb cache easily beats the 120GXP in most benchmarks.
but as its got extra cache its going to cost a premium.

personally im steering clear of IBM for a while after my 60gxp died.

for the 800bb / jb the difference in ozzie dollars is around 40 or so.

a bit more costly, but in my opinion its well worth the investment
