My Yamaha 20x burner has developed some sort of malfunction. It reads just fine,,but when I try to burn a cd,the write light just blinks over and over, and the pc locks up.I cant exit out or anything. This burner has only burned a dozen or so of cd's,so it is in almost new condition.Anyone have any ideas???????..starting to get a collection of coasters........Thanks for any help

What software are you using? Have you tried alternates or reinstalling?

I think that I might try to defrag first. I'm using the same brand cd's that I alway use out of two seperate boxes,so I think that I can rule out defective cd's.Kinda drives you bonkerz when something just doesnt work right......thanks for the reply........

Tried the NTI program with the same results. Then I tried the burner in my old 633/64k machine, and it worked fine. Why my 1.6 gig/256k machine will not burn a disk is a mystery. The way it locks up reminds me of some kind of dma/interrupt conflict of the old days.It will burn an audio cd on my 1.6,just no kind of data disk.:)
