Hey guys, just have a quick question for u computer gurus. I have a stick of NEC 128MB PC-100 SDRAM and a stick of Kingston 256MB PC-133 SDRAM. I was wondering if I could use them together even though they're not runnin the same frequency. And if I try, if it doesn't work will I run a risk of it shorting out my laptop?

Thx for your time.

If you only require the PC100 standard, then they should work (in most cases, anyway). PC133 is backwards compatible, as is PC100.

Thx! So I guess that means if my laptop says it needs PC-100 and I put in a 133 it will still run at 100? If I'm correct no need to reply. Thx for the help Rob.

you are correct but I reply anyhow. when you mix ram the slower stick dictates the speed of all of it. but it should not hurt your system.
