I'm thinking the latest DDR board, XP 1800, latest Gf3. ???Win 98se or XP. Y2X doens't play UT very well for me.????I'm a newbie to SCSI, I know it would be costly and more work, but will it make any difference in gaming. Thanks

I don´t see why you should "waste" money on a SCSI harddrive if your just into games.
If your doing alot of videoediting and that sort of stuff you might consider to buy a SCSI, otherwise IDE is enough!

I run 3 U160 10000 rpm SCSI drives in RAID 0. My games do not run any faster. I repeat, they do not run any faster. Listen to Jake75. Get yourself a good IDE drive (IBM 60GXP series, Western Digital WDxxxBB, 7200 rpm Maxtor, etc etc) & you'll be fine.

Cheers,

If you loan a friend $20 & never see them again, it was worth it.

Ditto what Ron J. says. I have a 10k rpm SCSI drive and it makes the levels load just a *little* bit faster, but once it's done, the rest of the game plays exactly the same.

Back in the day when I had SCSI and everyone else was using 5400rpm ATA/33 drives I could usually get in the level and grab some armor and a rocket before my competitors finished loading. Not so much the difference these days. I'm slowly fazing SCSI out of my system. Fast, but not worth the money.
