If I can get the Lite On 40X12X48(RTL40125S) and the TDK 40X/12X/48X VeloCD (AI-CDRW401248) for about the same price (less than $70), which one would be better *overall* -- that inlcudes DAE, writing and re-writing speeds, etc.

bah....i think i'll just go for the TDK because it has a slightly faster seek time than Lite-on's (other than that, they're the same drives).
Oh, and the blue tray also looks cool =)

believe it or not, i ended up buying the lite-on because of one thing: Mt. Reinier.

Other than that, they're the same exact drive.
