Use of flash drive

I have a Staples Relay flash drive that I used to down load info now i cant recover it please tell me how this works as I have never had one before, my computer is a Dell latitude E-6500

Wat happens when you plug the flash drive into a usb port? Do you get any pop up windows that say, drivers loading? Do you hear any tones from your computer? if you plug it in, and hear the tones....you should then be able to go to my computer, and see the flash drive. Just double click on it...... if that isnt your problem, please....give us more info
