No logon prompt at boot-up

I am no longer getting at logon prompt at boot-up. I had no problems with the OS until now. Ctrl-Alt-Del has no effect. I've disconnected the box from the network hub to no effect. I'm baffled. Any ideas? Unfortunately I did not make a ERD. I know, I know, IDIOT!

You could attempt a repair.

Insert the setup floppies or boot off of the cd and when prompted, use the repair option. If you get it fixed, you will need to service pack up to at least the service pack that you had on before you did the repair.

Good Luck

The only time I've seen this:
A computer previously had Mcafee anti-virus and then got Norton anti-virus loaded on it. It would boot, but freeze shortly after it got started. The only fix was to use a 2nd computer on the network to connect and stop the Mcafee service via server manager.

Have you tried your last-known-good yet? It was designed for situations just like this - where the login doesn't work.

It's been a while since I've sat in front of a NT4 box. Do you mean the OS bypasses the logon screen & boots right to the desktop? If so, maybe check around to see if there's a "automatically logon with this account" thingy. This would apply to an account with a blank password of course.

Secondly, maybe this will help:
