These guys at 3ware, they are crazy! Now they have an IDE based RAID controller with 12, yes 12 IDE channels!! They claim a maximum read of 190MB/s in RAID0, 188 MB/s in RAID5. Awesome!

Ugh, but still in parallel IDE format, imagine wiring that thing up! All I can say is wait for the serial ATA cards, how many disks will we be able to hook up then?!

Yeah I noticed that too while researching for my other issue. I've looked around a little but haven't been able to find a price of one yet. The 7850's (8 port) go for over $500, so I'm sure this is going to be atleast over $600. I think it might be time to buy a new case :)

and unless you use a DUAL cpu board with 64bit PCI slots its pretty useless given that the standard PCI transfer rate is maxxed out at 133mb/sec.

So I fixed my BIG PC problem by pressing the reset button. I'm not a moron am i?

Ach man, anyone who forks out $699 for a RAID card not to mention the cost of 12 hard disks and the MASSIVE case to fit them all in is going to have a dualie with 64MHz PCI slots for sure.
