Asus RT-N56U router: USB port not being found

Trying to hook up my USB one in all (HP M1212nf laser) to my Asus RT-N56U router....the USB/printer is not being found or recognized. Upgraded to the latest x.08 firmware.

why not use the network port on the printer (RJ45) assign it a static IP.

Multifunction printers do not work well on the routers with USB port
