The first was a very cool game you can't help but compare to the GTA3
series. I really liked the way Mafia tried to take a more realistic
approach to traffic violations and encounters with the police. For GTA3 to
do this would have been a hinderance to it's current gameplay, but in the
future, I'd love to see more realism. In the case of GTA3 you could have
"better" neighboorhoods being more strict with traffic violations while the
cops turn their heads in the ghetto.

It is coming out soon. The developers (Illusion ??) worked last on
Hidden and Dangerous 2 and Mafia2 is their current project, as far as
I know.

On the subject of sequels, I'd prefer to see Outlaws 2.

The chases in SA are more toned down than previous games. They have
implemented a new system where you could lose the wanted stars if you hid
for a while or totally outrun the cops. The only time where the cops are
relentless occurs when you have 4-5 stars where the FBI and helicopters are
on your tail. Even then it takes a while for them to take you down. Maybe
too many people complained about the cops in Vice City? IMO its a letdown to
feel so "invincible" in SA compared with Vice City.

The variety of pededstrians is greater and they definitely have more to say,
even conversing with one another.

The RPG elements are a minor hassle and don't eat up too much gaming time. I
am praying they optimize the game for the PC but not betting the farm on it.

I'm playing VC again at the minute. Amazing how dated the engine looks
now.

That's actually more realistic, but not if it's still too easy to get away
and if there is some kind of rational behind the number of cops and how
quickly they can appear out of nowhere.

Well, that's the single worst thing I've heard about SA then. I'm
depressed. (Of course I'll still buy it)

A more realistic car chase would mean a crash is more likely to kill or
incapacitate you or your car. It would mean your vehicle is a little harder
to master and less forgiving. Less arcade physics. You could have a lot
less cops but make them behave more realistically. (More regard for human
life. More of a willingness to fall back until greater numbers of cops
arrive.) Again, it's clear Rockstar isn't headed in that direction.
Mafia2 might have a hint of it?? I can hope.

That's always good, but I'd rather see new ideas rather than improvements on
old ideas. MORE MORE MORE.

I don't mind RPG elements per se (say), but I wouldn't have focused on those
kinds of elements. I haven't played SA, but it sound like that kind of
thing could get tedious real fast. The car upgrades are a neat idea.
Wouldn't it be neat if you actually got attached to a certain actual car
rather than just to a make of vehicle.

What I really would have liked to have seen would have been a sort of
conquor-the-world sort of mentaly placed on the AFTER game. Imagine in VC
if, once the game was over, you could still go on to try to expand your
territory in a non-scripted manner. Your influence could be based on
recruitment and the number of jobs you pulled, bribing politicans, brutal
acts, respect level, amount of personal material gain, all kinds of
imidation. The game itself would have it's own gangs trying to compete for
power using their own abilities, not unlike a came of CIVILIZATION or
something along that line. Of course that's never going to fit into the
formula of what Rockstar is doing and it's not at all fair to expect such a
thing, but it's okay for a gamer to dream a little, right?

I'd like to see a game with a large city like that with many stores,
hotels and restaurants to roam. While the game was beautiful to look
at, its static nature at times came too apparent. Only a couple of
places where you could step inside.

SA is supposed to have a lot more of that including the ability to
burglarize homes. (Go see the reviews on Gamespot).

All the onfoot game is tainted for me until they get out of the tomb raider
mentality and hook us up with some real FPS play that doesn't feel clunky.

I'd like to even have areas where you could just "hang out". While it
wouldn't be crucial for the game, it would liven the game area up and
feel less static.

The worst unusable objects or elements in a game are: the static boxes
that you can't even jump on, because they're too high. Level design in
our time should get rid off all boxes. I hate them things.
