R6 Raven Shield and in-game sniping

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with Raven Shield; I can't work out how to tell
my team to snipe (or cover, or defend for that matter) in game, as
opposed to during planning.

In Rogue Spear I had a range of keys to change my teams current
behaviour from default to snipe, cover, or defend. IIRC the '7' key
switched the team to snipe, then 'Y' ordered weapons-free.

In Raven Shield I can't find an equivalent, and it's driving me mad.
I move a sniper into position, switch teams, and he just sits down and
starts staring at a wall, not where I pointed him at all.

I'd greatly appreciate any help on this ...

Yours,
Duncan

Don't you have the manual? You can give commands to tell them to go
into cover mode, snipe etc. Just like in Rogue Spear. Look in the key
commands list for the relevant keys. I've uninstalled Raven Shield now
so can't give any more guidance than that, sorry.

That's a bug with the AI - unless they are explicitly told to do something
during the planning phase, they are in their default AI mode. (And there's
no way to give an explicit "snipe at" order.)

The default AI usually picks a direction (e.g. just left of center, just
right of center, or backwards) which isn't always the direction you wanted.
I'd like to give more information about why the AI chooses the direction in
question - however, the source code is supressed in the retail version.

Sort of :) I bought R.S. for NZ$9.95 from Electronics Boutique,
released as a "Big Bytes" special; the only manual is in PDF form
installed with the product, & it doesn't contain a key reference.

That's really annoying! What the hell kind of CQB game doesn't allow
for explicit orders during execution? That's especially poor
considering Rogue Spear supported them.

Look in the key list within the game. I seem to remember all the key
commands being listed there under options.

It does.

Actrually, they did allow giving teammates orders during the mission, by
holding down (or pressing) the space key. You can't do everything you
wanted, such as ordering your team to breach a door.

That's why it seems that you can't really order your teammates around -
it's possible, but there isn't enough flexibility given to the players.
