Hello, I have a SB Live 5.1 connected to a CSW dtt3500 5.1 speaker setup, but I've been getting a lot of crashes and unexplained errors, I think it might be my soundcard, and if I upgrade to what looks like the more stable TBSC will I still be able to connect to my existing speaker setup? Thanks in advance.

Get the latest 4in1 drivers from VIA. You may also try changing the SB Live! to a different PCI slot.

Click on the picture for a close-up of the Santa Cruz. http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/santacruz/default.asp It should hook up the same way.

BTW I upgraded from the SB Live 5.1 to the Hercules Game Theater XP (basically the same thing as the TBSC without the break out box) and could not believe the difference. When playing MP3's or CD's the highs were a bit less tinny than the SB Live. With games and DVD's the difference is astounding. The positioning is unbelievable. I played MOHAA and almost freaked out because it sounded like someone was in my room. Subtle sounds like footsteps that were washed out on the SB Live! were crystal clear with the GTXP. What it does is bring you into the game. The SB Live doesn't do that. If you're not into gaming or DVD's the SB Live is okay if you can get it to work with the VIA southbridge. Otherwise, get the TBSC. You'll be happy you did.
