Just like the title says, my computer does not have access to the internet when I restart. When I shutdown (and reboot), however, the ethernet card magically reappears on EVEREST's network adapter description.
No more than 20 minutes ago, I did a clean Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit install. When it sent me to the desktop, I tried accessing the internet, but it was not available. So I checked on my laptop for possible drivers (which I could not find because I didn't know what the adapter was called). So I just gave it a random one, restarted, then nothing changed. So I uninstalled that driver, and just shutdown. I should also note that my computer turns on within 2 seconds of shutdown (I asked a question about this, but nobody replied). When the computer got to the desktop after the shutdown, I was able to access the internet. I have tested this with 3 restarts and 3 shutdowns interchanging once in a while to see if this really were the case (which it is).
So, what is going on? What is wrong with my PC? Is it a driver problem?
Also, while I'm on the subject, can someone tell me why my PC keeps turning on after I shutdown? (to actually shutdown now, I use Windows shutdown, then right when it turns off, I switch the power supply off which is a little annoying)
