2 Failed Maxtor HDDs in a row--waiting for serial

Sigh... I've given up on Maxtor. This is the second hard drive I've had fail in a month. It wouldn't be that bad if I didn't loose everything when it happens cause I'm running it in a RAID array.

Anyone else having this problem? I can't believe I could get that bad of luck.

  1. well i sure hope it was just bad luck for you because I just bought 2 maxtors last night and I am using them for RAID. I'll cross my fingers.

87% of statistics are made up on the spot.
  2. I think your failing drives are an isolated case, as they seem to be quite reliable drives so far.
Maxtor better not turn out to be like IBM :)

  5. well if you want raid 0 you ahve to live with the possible consequences.

or get two more and go for a raid 0+1.

  6. Well... I wouldn't expect it to fail every 2 weeks, even if I'm running RAID-0... on the plus side my other Maxtor drive has been running for 2 years.
  7. point... however, i would just like to mention that [-peep-] happens lol
    you lucked out.
