dvd rom playback jerky

Just upgraded my proc and mobo. Love the speed w/ the P4 1.6 533mhz, 512 ddr pc2700 upgrade now my Toshiba sdm1302 has jerky playback on dvd and for the life of me I have not been able to improve the playback. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

dma is the 1st thing I would check.

duhhh! I set dma in the secondary ide controller channel. Had reverted to PIOS by default. Thanks for your help!!!
