LAN urgent help

Hello,
Originally my Os XP was Japanese version Home edition. I installed English version of XP professional. Now, I tried several things but can't get connected to the internet.
However, a wireless connection is fine.
Can anyone help me on how I can get connected to wired connection? But not dial up. ADSL.
I would appreciate a quick response.

go to your motherboard/laptop manufacturer website, go to the support/downloads section, and search for your motherboard/laptop model and locate the LAN driver for your computer. download, install and restart your computer.

to confirm your driver is installed, Right-Click 'My Computer' click 'Manage'.
in the left column, click 'Device Manager', under the Network Adapters menu, Look for an Ethernet Adapter.

do you see one there?
