Hello,
I have a mate who cannot his toshiba notebook to the internet. It seems to be able to detect that a connection is available, however, it will not let him physically connect. Any help appreciated!

Try repair network connection!

Go to network connections-- right click on the detected internet connection icon-- press repair.

Probably the easiest thing for you to do is go to the site I put below for a little tutorial on how to troubleshoot the connection. If that doesn't solve the issue, report back with some details and we'll get it working for you.

Is this ethernet connection or wireless?

Also, try opening a CMD prompt and pinging www.google.com, this will check to see if it is a DNS problem

Had a similar issue the other day. I was able to connect, but I basically got an error message stating something like "connection made but with limited connectivity" or something to that effect.

I solved it by turning off the modem for 10 seconds, then from within Win 7, I disabled the internet connect, then re-enabled it. Problem solved after several seconds.
