My newly buyed Aopen 32x12x48x CD-RW sometimes could write only at 24X speed. but sometimes 32X is available. I use the same cd. what's wrong there?

I'm no expert, but since that specific designation is maximum speed I'm gonna say your not always gonna be able to burn at that rate.I know this isn't a very technical explanation.Hopefully the more knowledgable folks will chime in.:)

If ya don't ask..How ya gonna know.

According to your drive your CDs are not equal in terms of the max write speed. It's odd though if they're the same brand/model. Upgrade the drive's firmware with the latest version on AOpen's website and this may solve some problems with auto detecting the suitable speed for the CDs or incompatibilities with some others.
