hey hey all, how do?
crazy question time
i'm going to do a complete format on my system , it's long over due.. currently running win98 upgraded to win98se.
now , with the win98se upgrade disk , can i install windows 98se completely from that disk only , inother words i don't want to install win98 and then install win98se ontop.
i have the full win98 disk and the win98se UPGRADE disk.
i could have sworn i'vs heard that it can be done.
p.s. don't want anything to do with win millenium until the first major service pack comes out for it.
thks in advance

There's a few things you can try.

It might ask which directory windows is installed in...in which case you can change CD's and point it the disk to try and find the files ( I used to do that with 95 Upgrade from 3.11 ).

Or you try using the /s switch when you format ( make sure it is 98 not SE format.com file ).
Let me know what happens

When you install, if it fails to find a qualifying product to upgrade, it'll ask for a CD. Give it the CD, and then you're fine. I do this a lot.

Yes, it'll just ask you for proof of ownership of a previous version.

yup it was simple, from complete format , just put in win98se UPGRADE disk , 2 minutes into installation it asked for proof of 98 full version , just take out 98se UPGRADE disk and put in 98 disk for 2-3 seconds , then replace with 98SE UPGRADE disk and away you go.my win 98se has never run better , well worth doing!!!!
