Hi guys,
I'm sort of at a crossroads here and I need help from any owners of PNY Verto GF4 MX420 PCI and/or ATI AIW Radeon 7500 to help me with my decision.
I want to upgrade my video card but my pos Compaq does not have an AGP slot. So the decision comes down to a $100 upgrade into the PCI card or a ~$200 upgrade of a Socket 370 mobo + AGP card.
My main goal is above all else to have decent TV-output quality. I have read in this forum that ATI cards excel in this regard, and I have read in some of the columns that the nVidia GF4 are lacking. However, I would like to have some hard feedback from any owners.
I think it is also worthwhile to note that I am not a heavy 3-D gamer, so the rendering speed of the video card is not a big issue for me (keep in mind I've been living with integrated graphics up to now). Like so many others, I just want a decent way to watch my divx MPEG4 movies on my TV. So if anybody has any less expensive/better solutions I would appreciate it.
You, my friend, are lame! Goto http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SA6R and get yourself a TOP OF THE LINE Socket 370 board for only $32! Then while you're their, get THIS CARD for only $47.50!!! Your grand total? $89 plus shipping, the cheapest shipping in the industry, you'll still be WELL under $100 with ground shipping. The performance? About 8 TIMES that of the PCI solution!
