Ok, apologies because I am sure that:-

1. This has been asked before.
2. I am doing something stupidly wrong.

But, is it possible to use voice dialling through an HS800 headset without
opening the flip?

Thanks, but I meant does the phone flip have to be open, not the headset
one. It will take incoming calls with the phone closed, and outgoing last
number redial, but I just can't get voice activiation to work with the phone
closed. Is this right, or is there a setting I am missing?

Yes, if you mean the phone flip (not the HS boom). Enable in the
Bluetooth setup menu

Also, from the (Motorola) manual:
Enable voice dial with headset send/end key:
Settings > Headset > Voice Dial
Not sure if that applies to the Bluetooth HS though.
