Just a quick note to say that after spending 1 hour with this title it was a
great idea, but ultimately is a very poorly executed PC game version. It
feels like a pure Xbox port converted over to a PC without any of the
attempt to quality or quantify PC strengths in the interface that Thief: DS,
Halo, or Riddick have for the PC.

Why?

Graphics and Interface
=================
It uses the same Unreal Xbox version engine that Deus Ex and Thief DS, and
feel just like Deus Ex 2 v. 1.0 as well.
It uses massive large icons, but no transparency so your display gets
clogged very quickly and makes it difficult to efficiently and effectively
play the game.
It has a very unnatural FPS feel to the movement. It's as though you are
hovering on an air cushion. It feels like playing a console game with an
Xbox controller, but you're using WASD+Mouse.

Commands system
===============
The "intuitive system" is not very intuitive at all, it becomes a pixel hunt
to get action icon placed just right on the correct object you want one of
your squad members to take action on (slice, snipe, blow up, etc). There
are many other games who have a much better and intuitive feel for directing
squaddies.

*sigh* I had high hopes for this game, and I apologize if more descriptive
prose fails me, but if you have every played a poorly done console port on
the PC where you felt that they did not leverage any of the strengths of the
PC but simply made you feel like you were sitting in front of the exact same
game in front of your TV, playing it on the orignal console, you likely were
frustrated and strugged with the same control, FOV, interface, etc issues
that I did with this game.

Too bad Lucas didn't hire Tigon to perform the conversion from Xbox to PC.

SIGH. This is really disapointing. When this happens I just wonder why
they even bothered to make the PC version. I feel so 'cheated' by this
"consolits" and its only going to get worse I'm afraid. Multi platform
games that come out the same time almost always are dumbed down to the
lowest spec of whatever system. Heaven help you if its coming out for
the gamecube the same time as PC.

I spent a lot of money getting my rig tricked out with high end stuff
and then I have to deal with 16 bit textures and small levels?? BS!

Thanks for the warning about Commandos.. i saw its on sale for $37 at
Frys today and it sounds like its $30 overpriced. :(
