I have a friend who lives in a different area from me and he's trying to get rid of something on his computer, but it's hard for me to help just over the internet, so i was wandering if it at all was possible to control his laptop from mine? Iv'e done it at school using lan with an ethernet cable but i don't know how to do it over the internet. Do i need a program we both need to download? And this is a school laptop so yea i'm on a limited account so nothing to high tech please.

Thank you
Jake

Use TeamViewer. Neither of you even needs to install it. Just download the installer, execute it, and choose the "Run" option. His installation will generate a random connection ID (9 digit number) and password that you can then use from your TeamViewer client.

You can even inverse the connection while it’s running, making your machine the remote desktop, which can be useful for demonstrating something on your machine to him!

In one of your three posts you say you have only a Limited account so you will not be able to do it. Apart form that, your office network will have an Administrator who will have gone to great lengths to make sure no-one can hack their system - even someone who works there.

The fact that you asked the question here and not to that Administrator implies you want to do something covertly. We will not help in those circumstances and this old thread is now closing.
