So I just recently built my gaming rig and I was all excited to stream and play stuff on steam, but my connection is total junk
My set up is:
z77 ASrock extreme 4
intel 3570k ivy bridge
his iceq x 7850
seagate barracuda 1tb 7200rpm
(if there's any other pertinent info I need to give please let me know)
a straight wired connection is out of the question as my room is clear on the other side of the house from the modem and there's no way I'm gonna pay for my own.
I have tried both a Linksys AE 3000 usb adapter and Netgear XETB1001 powerline with little to no luck.
My router is a Netgear wgr614, and it connects to my laptop via its Intel Wifi Link 5100 agn like a charm, giving me (cox) turbo boost speed like a champ in the same room as the desktop.
the desktop gets 1/5 the download speed and 1/3 the upload speed of my laptop in the same room.
I have tested the Linksys usb and netgear powerline with my laptop in my room and I get the same abysmal performance as my desktop. So it would seem the connection peripherals are the problem, but I'm not sure why and I'm not sure what else I can do to get the same speeds as my laptop? Any help that can be given would be greatly appreciated.
